You Need An Attorney Who Specializes In Workers Compensation Law

What you don't need is a lawyer who "also" practices Workers' Comp. More and more, laws are being written that are only fully understood by those few lawyers who are highly competent in specific areas. Finding the "right lawyer", means a lawyer with substantial workers compensation knowledge and experience, is what you want when you need competent help. Lawyers should be selected for their expertise and experience in specific categories of cases. The "right lawyer" for your Workers' Comp case is the person who has substantial experience handling a case very similar to yours, who can and will take action at once.

Kevin Moore and his Florida Workers' Compensation law firm is who you want and what you need!

You Need An Attorney Who Knows Florida WC Cuts & Lacerations Claims Cases

CUTS & LACERATIONS

A laceration, or cut, is a common injury to get in a workplace. They can result from slips, trip or fall, low overhangs, tools used on the job, exposed sharp surfaces, and many other causes. Lacerations are cuts or tears of the skin caused by a sharp object, such as exposed metal edges or broken glass. Laceration wounds have a wide range of severity from surface to deep and can even be fatal. Long-term effects resulting from certain cuts and lacerations can be challenging for the worker. This page gives an overview of laceration injuries. If you have suffered cuts or lacerations as the result of a workplace accident in Florida, please contact Kevin the Florida Workmans' Comp law firm of Kevin Moore.

Laceration and Cut Wounds

A wound resulting in the splitting or separation of the skin is laceration. Often in lacerations, the skin or the wound itself is jagged or torn, especially if the cut is caused by a fall from high places. Cuts can also be caused by sharp objects, such as exposed sharp objects around your work area. Abrasions are the result of scraping, where the skin is separated but not missing.

The experienced WC Law Team of Kevin Moore are receiving ever increasing calls for help in getting the proper Workers' Compensation treatments and protection related to severe lacerations or cuts that workers are entitled to under Florida Law. If you have been injured on the job please give us a call - we can and will help!

Laceration Severity and Locations

Lacerations can occur anywhere on the body. Common lacerations incurred in workplace accidents include face extremities especially including legs and arms. To minimize scarring and prevent permanent scaring, facial lacerations can require immediate and often long term care. A deep cut can go through skin all the way down to the bone - cutting tendons and muscles on the way. The deeper the laceration, the more serious the consequences, especially if damage goes into the muscle or bone. What you do not want is an insurance company dictating the wrong treatment for your wound. Even seemingly superficial wounds can lead to severe secondary infections which can cause the loss of limbs or even death. If you believe that you are getting improper or inadequate treatment for your workplace cut or laceration job please a call Kevin Moore - YOUR Florida Workers' Comp lawyer - he can and will help!

Laceration Complications and Consequences

Even if the laceration was not that great, lacerations to the head can be life threatening, even if the injuries do not appear to be great. Secondary infections of even the most insignificant laceration can end up being life threatening. Other types of open wounds, similar to lacerations, are often found in Workers Compensation injury cases: puncture wounds and abrasions. A puncture wound is usually caused by a pointed object such as an exposed nail, nail-gun or (carpet) knife. These types of wounds usually do not bleed excessively and can appear to close up. An abrasion is a wound caused by superficial damage to the skin, no deeper than the epidermis (the top layer of the skin) usually caused by a rubbing of the skin on a rough surface. These types of wounds are prone to infection and should be treated immediately.

Your Workers' Compensation referred physician should refer you to a surgeon in cases of deep wounds or puncture wounds of unknown depth; severe crush injuries; and wounds that are severely contaminated.

Infection is the biggest medical concern in the first few weeks following a laceration or other "open" injury. Signs of infection include severe pain, fevers and chills, pus, redness beyond the wound edges, or excessive swelling. If you think you have an infection, you should seek prompt medical care.

Reasonable Expectations:

If your cut or laceration injury occurred because of a Florida workplace accident, you should rightfully expect your employer and their insurance company to provide quality care, covering all of your injury related expenses, and compensate you, while you are unable to work if you authorized physician indicates, for your resulting lost income. These are reasonable expectations but all too often you end up having to fight these very organizations for your rightful compensation!

You Are Covered By Law:

According to the Workers Compensation Statute 440 Section 15 - you could qualify for Temporary Total or Temporary Partial Disability Wages and be entitled to up to 66% of your average weekly wages during the time period of such disability. There are some restrictions and you may have disagreements with the insurance company about them. If this is your circumstance or are worried that you may have such a disagreement with the insurance company then now is the time to contact Kevin Moore's Florida Workers Compensation Law Firm!

Insurance companies are supposed to pay you every two weeks you are out of work because of your injuries. If they don't pay you timely they owe you penalties and interest. They are also supposed to pay you based upon your last 13 weeks of wages earned. In many cases the insurance company incorrectly calculates your benefits incorrectly and underpays you. You need a lawyer to fight for your lost wage benefits.

The insurance company is required to pay your authorized workers compensation medical expenses, prescription medications and your medical mileage. Many times the insurance carrier refuses to pay a medical bill or prescriptions and you are left with these expenses. You need a lawyer to fight to get your medical treatment and medical bills paid.

You may need a fighter by your side!

You may need a fighter by your side! Just when you are at your weakest you may have to fight! Florida Workers Comp Insurance companies are notorious for denying claims, stalling appeals, and denying rightful or quality care and services. The insurance company's goal is to save money - not to assure you your rightful care and compensation.
